Used Stainless Steel Reactors for Sale

The heating, cooling, mixing, and other processes involving delicate or reactive ingredients requires special handling. Specialized stainless steel reactors are used throughout the manufacturing and processing industries for preparing corrosive chemicals, acidic foods, pressurized gas, and more because of their non-reactive materials, non-porous surfaces, and thermodynamic properties. Phoenix equipment carries a large assortment of stainless steel reactors for sale, providing an easy, inexpensive way for companies to start or expand their operations. Phoenix Equipment’s constantly changing inventory of used stainless steel reactors is sure to contain several featuring the size, configuration, and components you need for your application. We can help you determine the tank size, agitation system, heating and cooling requirements, pressure settings, orientation, and other performance specifications that will fit your process and workflow.

Here's what to consider when choosing among the stainless steel reactors available at Phoenix Equipment:

  • Application – Stainless steel reactors can carry out a variety of chemical, biological, organic, and inorganic reactions and processes. Many can perform more than one function. Reactor selection should begin with an understanding of what you need it to do. Specialized reactors have been developed for synthetization, crystallization, incubation, and dozens of other uses.

  • Conditions – One of the most important advantages of using stainless steel reactors is their ability to control and manipulate the conditions under which the reactions occur. They can be programmed to create the ideal temperature, pressure, and pH ensure the reactions take place at the right time and pace. The stainless reactor listings on this site include their temperature and pressure ratings. Reactors maintain the proper temperatures through jacketing. Jackets are outer shells surrounding the tank or vessel through which cold water, chilled brine, hot oil, steam, or other medium circulates.

  • Agitation – The mixing of ingredients can be critical in the cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and foodstuffs industries. The proper mixer and depends on whether these different constituents need to be homogenized, suspended in liquid, emulsified, or otherwise combined. Stainless steel reactors can be fitted with a range of motors, impellers, and blade shapes to accomplish any mixing task involving solids, powders, slurries, and viscous liquids.

  • Size and Process - The stainless steel Reactors in our inventory range from ½-gallon to 10,000-gallon capacities. Batch process reactors receive a prescribed recipe of reactants and perform their assigned tasks, after which the processed mixture is removed, the reactor is cleaned, and another set of ingredients can be added. Batch reactors are appropriate in industrial settings that produce several different products. The same reactor can be used, with adjustments to the reactants used and the temperature, pressure, and other conditions inside the reactor. Continuous reactors, on the other hand, involve a steady flow of reactants into the reactor and an equal flow of finished product coming out. Continuous reactors are used when a large quantity of a single chemical or product is being produced, as they can run for days or weeks without being shut down for cleaning and maintenance.

  • Accessories and Options – Not all stainless steel reactors are created equal. Many are constructed from standard 304- and 304L-grade steel. The added molybdenum in 316 and lower carbon content in 316L steel gives them the greater corrosion resistance needed in the stainless steel reactors used in many industrial processes. Copper is added to make 904L stainless and give reactors a barrier against sulfuric and other reducing acids. Reactor-bottom geometry also provides flexibility. Dish-shaped bottoms are easier to drain during cleaning and aid in agitation by allowing products to “climb” up the walls and fall back onto the top of the mixture to be stirred in again. Flat-bottomed stainless steel reactors are easier to manufacture, so they cost less. That additional savings is reflected in the purchase of used reactors.

Phoenix Equipment routinely carries 80 to 100 stainless steel reactors in stock and ready for shipment around the world. With an inventory so vast, we are almost sure to have one that suits your needs. If not, tell us what you’re looking for, and we will put our network of seller contacts on the case. Equipment that handles reactions at high pressures and temperatures or come equipped with clean-in-place systems, special agitators, or other non-standard features are especially good bargains. Plus, you can receive your used stainless steel reactor in a fraction of the time it would take to order, fabricate, and deliver a new, custom-built one.Contact us if you have any questions about our listings or if you would like assistance in selecting the best stainless steel reactor for your needs.
