Whether you want to remove the ethanol from CBD oil, concentrate milk or juice, manufacture urea or caustic soda, perform any other separation of compounds with varying boiling points, used tubular evaporators from Phoenix Equipment are an optimal choice. Our selection of rising film and falling film evaporators for sale give you the option to rapidly upscale production, develop new product lines or initiate production at a fraction of the cost of new evaporation equipment.
Falling Film Evaporators
Falling film evaporators are types of tubular evaporators that facilitate the heat transfer between a heating media – typically steam or boiling water – and the process fluid. It’s a three-step process:
- The process fluid is fed into the tops of several tubes inside the falling film evaporator, where it forms a thin, even coat against the inside circumferences. At the same time, the heating media circulates throughout the shell surrounding the tubes.
- Gravity, and in some cases, pressure, helps the film of process fluid fall the length of the tubes. Heat from the media penetrates the tube walls, heating the film of process media on the other side, causing one or more of its components to vaporize.
- The tubes drain the remaining liquid, where it gets collected at the bott om of the tubular evaporator while the vapors are drawn off and sent to a condenser.
The falling film evaporators for sale at Phoenix Equipment generate optimum thermal performance by ensuring the process fluid coats the inner walls of each tube evenly and at the ideal thickness based on the fluid’s composition and the component to be vaporized. The fluid’s viscosity and the falling film evaporator’s engineering and construction determine how quickly it descends the tube. This, in turn, factors into the proper tube length and heating medium temperature required. Phoenix Equipment’s experienced team of tubular evaporator experts can help you select the used falling film evaporator that matches your application.
Rising Film Evaporators
Rising film evaporators accomplish the same objectives while withstanding the wear and tear that can come from processing slurries with poor distribution qualities. Their process includes:
- Liquid enters the tubes from the bottom while the steam inside the shell condenses on the tubes’ exterior to heat the process product.
- The liquid inside the tubular evaporator’s tubes comes to a boil. The vapor created increases the pressure, forcing the remaining liquid to the insides of the tubes and forcing it upward. As additional material vaporizes, the liquid film becomes thinner, so it can move more quickly up the tubes.
- The force and upward movement circulate the suspended solids and liquid components, reducing the chance that they will foul the heating surfaces.
Phoenix Equipment’s inventory of rising film evaporators are well-suited for processes calling for recirculation of the product. This assures sufficient liquid loading within the heating tubes by reintroducing a portion of the formed concentrate back through the feed inlet.
